1972 : Ford Capri 5.0 'Boss' pt.1 'Swarfega'
March 12th 1972 - A huge crowd witnessed the duel of the special saloon titans when Mick Hill pipped Gerry Marshall ( Vauxhall Firenza ) in the opening BARC Forward Trust round. Clashes between these top 2 drivers were actually rarer than you might think before the Supersaloon era of 1974. It proved mutually beneficial for both drivers to concentrate of chasing different national club series. Marshall won the Forward Trust outright with Hill winning the rival BRSCC Hepolite Glacer title.
The new livery made its debut the week earlier at Brands when Autosport reported 'Mick Hill`s familiar Boss Capri now with lightened doors and boot, sporting a a legal Ford-approved rear spoiler and in a new purple colour scheme of his sponsor Swafega'.
1972 : Ford Capri 5.0 'Boss' pt.2 'Luton Motors'
'In the right conditions Hill was completely untouchable...with Tricentrol sponsorship Hill`s driving improved considerably and there were a few moans about it all being about the car and not the driver...rather ironic considering that it was the driver who had designed the thing in the first place' - Autosport season review
Not Hill but one of the 3 guest drives by Teddy Savory in the Boss Capri. This one at Snetterton on August 28th 1972 for a Hepolite round. Savory won all 3 of his guest drives, two at Snetterton and one at Silverstone.
