At the Easter Sunday ( April 11th 1982 ) round of the `Atlantic Computers Historic GT and Sports` race Mick got the chance to fulfill an ambition of racing a mighty Can-Am car. His old friend Tony Hazelwood gave him a guest drive in a very rare BRM PI54 with its huge Chevy V8, very much Mick`s kind of engine. Only 2 were built for the 1970 North American Can-Am sports series and this was a rare outing for the car against the Atlantic regulars in their McLaren`s such as John Foulston and John Brindley. Foulston took pole but Hill was 2nd and followed the pole man nose to tail for the first 2 laps until `light contact` was made and Hill dropped back. The BRM started to cut out and Brindley took Hill for 3rd until Hill recovered and re-took his 2nd place on lap 10 despite part of the nose having gone.
